The loss of those people was being compensated by the authorities. At initial stages, The Central Park of New York City was only for elite class. It was far away from the city so working class could not reach that park by walking. Authorities planned to arrange concerts on Saturdays.
This attracted the middle class towards the park. In 20th century, workers made their approach to the park. Central park was also upgraded by the authorities. It has made great progress by the passage of time. You can find slides, jungle gyms, playing ground facilities in the park now.
